Gun Lake Tribal Utility Authority Management Board Opportunity

Gun Lake Tribal Utility Authority Management Board (Board) is seeking qualified Tribal Citizens or experienced non-citizens interested in helping oversee the Tribe’s utility infrastructure and operations as a part of the management board. Gun Lake Utility Authority (Authority) is an agency and instrumentality of the Tribe, led by the Board, established to control, and have responsibility for the operation, repair and maintenance of the water, wastewater facilities and equipment to keep the systems in good operating condition, in accordance with accepted standards and practices.

Some of the duties of the Board include:

  • Recommend to the Tribal Council the adoption of appropriate policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contract with the Tribe to ensure there are staff to operate the Authority.
  • Oversee the activities and compliance of the wastewater and water treatment plants.
  • Levy and collect fees that are just and reasonable for any services, commodities, or goods provided by the Authority.

Board Members will be appointed to a maximum of two year terms.

Interested candidates seeking to serve as a Utility Authority Management Board member must meet eligibility requirements as outlined:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Have a reputation of good character and honesty.
  • Have experience, education, skill, or training in the utility or energy field.
    • Training and experience in water or wastewater management preferred.
  • Ability to meet as often as monthly.
  • Ability to travel as reasonably necessary.
